2008

  • In January, 2008, 21Vianet won the "Outstanding Contribution", the "Best Service Quality" and the "Excellent Performance" awards on the 2nd IDC Industry Annual Conference.
  • In March, 2008, 21Vianet provided network support services for the website of Youth Business China (YBC), becoming the first IDC to engage in public welfare assistance.
  • In April, 2008, 21Vianet was the only one to be named as the "Most Reliable & Environment-friendly Provider of Third-party Data Center Services" on the 2008 Next-generation Data Center Summit.

2007

  • In January, 2007, 21Vianet won the "Outstanding Contribution", the "Excellent Performance" and the "Best Service Quality" awards on the 2006 Investigation on IDC Industry's Developments and the IDC Industry Annual Conference.
  • In February, 2007, 21Vianet received further investments in the amount of several dozen million dollars.
  • In October, 2007, the 2007 User Satisfaction Ranking on China's IT Service Providers, an investigation organized by CCW Research and the Users' Committee under CAQ, showed that 21Vianet ranked first among data center service providers.

2006

  • In September, 2006, 21Vianet was named as "An Internet Enterprise Dedicated to Public Welfare".
  • In September, 2006, the 2006 User Satisfaction Ranking on China's IT Service Providers, an investigation organized by CCW Research and the Users' Committee under CAQ, showed that 21Vianet ranked first among data center service providers.
  • In October, 2006, 21Vianet established a strategic cooperation with Tianjin Netcom, the first to be established with an ISP.

2005

  • In April, 2005, 21Vianet established its Media Operation Center (MOC), providing next-gen Internet infrastructure services targeting the media industry.
  • In September, 2005, 21Vianet was qualified as a provider of CISM trainings.
  • In October, 2005, 21Vianet was appointed as a Deputy Director member and the Secretary General of the China Broadband P2P Promotion Alliance.

2004

  • In April, 2004, 21Vianet conducted a research project centered on next-gen IT security infrastructures for the Ministry of Science and Technology.
  • In June, 2004, 21Vianet become a member for the council of the Union of Network Beijing.
  • In June, 2004, 21Vianet cooperated with HP again in the expansion of their IT service outsourcing market.
  • In July, 2004, 21Vianet cooperated with GDS in developing disaster recovery data center operations.
  • In November, 2004, the Internet Multimedia Applications System Based on SIP, a system developed by 21Vianet, was listed among the receivers of sponsorship provided by the National Innovation Fund.

2003

  • In December, 2003, 21Vianet received A-class qualification for IT service security.
  • In December, 2003, 21Vianet was named as a "Model Organization for Youth Innovation" by the All-China Youth Federation, an organization under the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League.
  • In December, 2003, the data centers of 21Vianet were selected by KDDI, a telecom company based in Japan.

2002

  • In May, 2002, the E-port under China Customs selected the data centers of 21Vianet.
  • In December, 2002, 21Vianet was qualified under the ISO9001:2000 system.

2001

  • In January, 2001, the data centers of 21Vianet were selected by Sina Corporation and the Netease.com, Inc.
  • In February, 2001, 21Vianet was qualified under the ISO9002 system, becoming the first domestic IDC service provider to be qualified under an international standard.
  • In March, 2001, 21Vianet, the first to provide secure services in the industry, introduced the emergency response center and secure service standards.
  • In July, 2001, 21Vianet became the only data center service provider to be listed among the first batch of secure service providers qualified by the National Information Security Office.

2000

  • The construction of 21Vianet's second data center was completed in May, 2000.
  • In June, 2000, 21Vianet was approved to be connected to the China National Internet Exchange. This allowed 21Vianet to be connected to 9 national trunk networks including ChinaNet, CNCNet and UniNet at high speed and with bandwidths over 155M.
  • In June, 2000, a strategic restructuring brought about a partnership between the newly established 21ViaNet China, Inc. and the A-1.net. Targeting ISP/IDC services, the partnership began its operations under the "世纪互联" registered trademark.
  • In August, 2000, 21Vianet introduced 2 value-added services to its IDC website management operations, the Traffic Monitoring Service and the Load Balancing Service.
  • In September, 2000, 21Vianet introduced IDC network security services, the first to be provided in China.
  • In November, 2000, the phase I of 21Vianet's Jiuxianqiao Data Center, Beijing began its service.

1999

  • In February, 1999, the China E-government Project agreement, based on the strategic partnership between 21Vianet and the data communications branch under China Telecom, was signed.
  • The construction of 21Vianet's first telecom-class Internet Data Center was completed in December, 1999.

1998

  • In March, 1998, 21Vianet introduced dial-up Internet access services based on the "800#" toll-free numbers to 16 cities in China.
  • In May, 1998, 21Vianet established its virtual access network based on the 163/169 platform.
  • In July, 1998, 21Vianet implemented the Remote Enrollment Service for Higher Education, a test project for the Ministry of Education.

1997

  • In March, 1997, cenpok.net, a free mailbox service, was introduced by 21Vianet.
  • In May, 1997, Jincaiwang, the first network talent searching service, was introduced by 21Vianet.
  • In December, 1997, the first push service targeting websites in Chinese was introduced by 21Vianet under the "天唐2000" brand.

1996

  • In July, 1996, 21Vianet began to provide Internet access services in Beijing.
  • In August, 1996, a Chinese website, www.bol.com.cn, was introduced by 21Vianet.
